Oh how I miss my camera...

I never thought I would actually miss my camera, as I have always been one of those "your memories are your pictures" kind of person.  But now that I don't have the option to capture moments on film or tiny memory sticks, it seems like I am missing more of the moments.

And it's especially sad, because I can't share my memories with Jason, who has been gone alot this month, or my parents, in-laws, siblings, or other extended family, who have no way of seeing the kids in person to create their own memories.

So, although knives were supposed to be our next purchase, a camera may have shot from #7 to #1, in a few short weeks.

Until then, I will attempt to use descriptive words to create an image in your head!

Finding bliss in Vegas

These past couple of weeks have been hard. Really hard. A husband gone more than he is around, a screaming baby refusing to nurse, and a two and half year old (that should be enough) with his own set of issues.

Needless to say, there has been a lot of crying, from all of us, minus the absent husband, frequently each day.

Throughout all of this, I have been attempting to create some peace for myself so I don't lose it.

So my iPod has been stuck on Dirty Vegas' self titled album, repeating over and over.

Days go by...and I slowly stay sane.

Beautiful bows

I have no qualms about it.  I like bows.  So how lucky was it for me, when I found out I was having a girl!

I knew that there was a strong possibility that as she became older she would want nothing to do the things...especially if I let her spend to much time with her Auntie Hannah. ;)  So, in the mean time, wherever we go, Lily is not without a bow on her head.

(Yes, this one is Lily...about 3-4 months old)
Yes, "on her head," not "in her hair."  For the second thing I realized was that Lily was going to be pretty much lacking in the hair department  for awhile.  Her brother was quite bald until about 6 months old.

So I found a beautiful store on Etsy that sells these gorgeous bows I adore, but they attach to awesome stretchy headbands or crocheted beanies.  No hair required.

Obviously, this is not my child (no working camera!), but this is exactly what she had on today at Costco, plus a shirt, where I was stopped by no fewer that 15 people to remark on how cute it (and she!) was...oh, and C was quite the "darling" too :)

So, my shout out goes to The Princess and Me for making this momma quite happy!

The big ummmm...

This morning, C announced, "I want to get dressed." So Jay told him to go get some clothes. He ran back to his room, and we heard several long, "no's" (as in, "no, not that one") before he ran back into the kitchen holding a pair of grey sweat shorts and a pair of jeans.

As he looked at the clothes, and then us, and then back at his clothes, his next comment was priceless.

"Ummmmm???"

A beautiful baptism

Our little Lily was baptized on July 18, her 6 month birthday, at our church in Florence, SC, Central UMC. The new ministers, Reverends Stephen and Cynthia Taylor, performed the sacrament beautifully, and Lillian was perfect in Cynthia and Stephen's arms, even while they poured the water over her head.

A candle burned during the baptism, and we intend to celebrate each year on her baptism day by lighting it for a few minutes to remember the significance of this special day.
