Birthday Wishes

What was my birthday wish this year? Well, silly, I can't tell! But I did lay around and read all day long. I finished the 6th Harry Potter book. But, of course, the 7th book is packed in some storage unit with all our other belongings...Guess I will be waiting until after we move to find out what happens to HP and the gang :(

Jason made reservations at a steak house in downtown Pleasanton named Haps. It was nice. No Ruth's Chris, but it was still really good.

Kim, Allison, Rebec...Thanks for the e-cards! They were really sweet. It was so good to see Ruby. She's getting so big.

Oh, and I should have taken a picture of me. I was wearing one of the dresses Bec sent me, and I look really pregnant in it. Big bump and everything. :)

Kim, Happy Birthday to you today!!!

Love,
EP and Bump :)

Relief

Yesterday started with an appointment to see a house in Pleasanton that was about 1/2 mile from our hotel. It was utterly depressing that they wanted $2200 for this home that was clearly not well kept up. I asked the guy when he thought it would be ready for move-in, thinking it would be several weeks, cause it clearly needed some help, and he replied, about 2 days. WHAT?!?!?!? Price DID NOT equal quality!! So, we left, in a depressed state...We realized we would have to start looking in Livermore as well. We had chosen Pleasanton because of me taking the job in San Jose....Pleasanton is closer.

So, then I left for San Jose, to take my BCBA exam. It was not as terrible as I thought it would be, but it was a major process to actually start taking the exam. I was fingerprinted about 4 times, photo taken, multiple forms of ID examined thoroughly, all items taken from me (I could not even keep my water bottle), and I basically had to fist fight the lady at the front desk to keep my jean jacket. BUT, once it started, I was in there for about 3 hours, and it did not go as poorly as I thought it would. I do hope I passed though. I don't want to do it again!

Jason was kind enough to go over to Livermore while I was in my exam and look at several (or more) homes for rent. He found a couple he liked and set up appointments for that afternoon. The first place was clearly well kept up, and nice looking inside. The walls were a good clean color, the floors looked good, but there was no AC, no closet doors (weird!), and he was charging $5 a pop for each application--just to take it. If you returned it, it would be another $25 for him to run the credit application. So, we left... But the next place was awesome...It was a townhome, and there was no deck/patio/etc for a grill, but it did have a great place for the piano and "pretty" furniture. And the kitchen was gorgeous. So we sent off the application last night, and sent it back with our offer letters. We shall see!

We ended our day with NY Pizza and playing WoW....It was a good end to a kind of depressing start!

So, today we are going to see another place at 4:30pm, and then we will be going to a cookout at a friend of Jason's from his work. Hoping for cheeseburgers! :) And maybe a stop at the Home Depot to look at paint swatches for the baby's room...

Moving and Shaking...

So, the baby is moving ALL THE TIME! I swear, once I noticed it, it has been non-stop. Either the baby will be a black belt or an Olympic gymnast when she pops out! I suppose a tango dancer or swimmer is also a possibility.

Jason felt her for the first time on Sunday morning. We were laying in bed early in the morning, and he laid his hand on my belly. We were both half asleep, and the whap! She poked in him the hand. He looked over at me, and said, "was that it?" It was odd...I did not expect him to feel be able to feel her yet.

As far as the house hunt, I am a bit sad today, because I heard from the owner of the house we saw last night, and she is going with a different couple. It was so cute, and I really hoped that we could get that house. Oh well...we must continue the search.

And my test is Saturday. Yuck! Not really looking forward to that, especially the thought that they might not let me out to pee for 4 hours. :( They can't legally do that, can they???

Y'all...Can you believe it?

Ms. Paula Deen is hosting her Paula's Party WHILE I WILL BE IN SC!!! Can you believe it?

I would do about anything to meet Paula...and watch her cook...how awesome would that be????

It's Official

1) The ice cream monster has come and taken over my body. What can I say? All I want is a wide variety of ice cream type things...but usually my absolute favorite: Baskin Robbin's Peanut Butter n' Chocolate. I had to break down and mix in peanut butter with some chocolate type ice cream Jason bought. It was adequate, but wasn't really what I wanted.

2) My clothes don't fit. Enough said. (No one should mention #1 and it's relation to #2!)

3) I am about to go certifiable in this tiny hotel room...

Off to search Craig's List for a home...

Interview...

First off...Due to my extreme emotional state, I did cry when I read Bec's and Allison's comments. Thank you both!

So, I just got back from San Jose, where I had an interview. Actually I got back about 4 hours ago, and then spent the next 3 hours studying for my BCBA exam. Yuck. You should see my planner, where I have blocked out the 3-4 hours per day for the next week and half to study. And on what days which sections and modules/content area I will be studying!!!! I am such a nut ball.

Ok, the interview. It went well, and the managing director, who I interviewed with, was pretty cool. Very down to earth, dressed in jeans and baseball cap with Vans on. Who woulda guessed? But he appears to be very open-minded. I asked alot of questions about philosophies and the such, and according to Kevin, they are open to whatever works best for the child. I like.

Interestingly, he thought I was applying for the supervisor position and when I mentioned yes, I was taking my exam in a week from Saturday, he thought it was for the BCABA (for those with Bachelors). I told him no--I had a Master's and was sitting for my BCBA. Then, he flipped around and told me about the Director's position that I would be better suited for. Very funny.

He seemed very open to me working from home 2 days a week, and spending 3 days in the field/office. The job pays well with good benefits, and the like. One big downside is that it is in San Jose which is about 1/2 the commute I just came from. About 1/2 hour each way instead of 1 hour each way. He said they just filled the director position in East Bay (where we are), but if I take this, I will stipulate that I be transferred to East Bay when there is an opening.

So, that's it in a nutshell. Thanks again for all the well wishes...keep sending them our way! :)

PS--Jay's not home or I would update you on his first day of work!

So here we are...

In Livermore, finally. We have spent the last 2 days looking for places to live, and as usual, it is quite depressing. You go from one place to another, only to find you are 1 for 12 in the end, and typically it is because the places are missing one key component or another. Hopefully something wonderful will fall into our lap. We did find a place that will let me paint the rooms whatever color I want...wish is perfect for the baby's room. Not many places will let me do that.

Thinking about the baby is funny sometimes, because I still feel no movements with little Bump. She/he is just as quiet as can be. At least to me. Though my ultrasound did show that Bump was jumping, kicking, and throwing punches right and left. Sometimes I just forget I am pregnant (if you exclude the fact that my clothes don't fit--boo!), and then it hits me...in 6 months, my life will be very different.

Well, that's it for me. Jay starts his new job tomorrow, and I have a job interview tomorrow at 11am. Wish us luck :)

PS--Michelle, if you read this, I just got the pictures of McKenna...and they are super cute! :)
